Cederberg Brut

“Strings of dainty pearls in liquid gold.” Made in the traditional French method of allowing a second fermentation to take place in the bottle. The extended period on lees, allowed time to add to the creamy complexity of this sparkling wine.

Cederberg Chenin

The Cederberg style Chenin Blanc offers beautiful layers of melon, grapefruit and fleshy white pear. Four months lees contact ensured a mouth coating creaminess on the palate with a lively crisp acidity to finish off. Altitude vineyards make this Chenin Blanc truly unique. This wine will be well suited to creamy dishes as well as light summer lunches.

Cederberg Bukettraube

A rare cultivar with 77 hectares left in the world. Cederberg Bukettraube is an explosion of aroma and flavour. It has prominent muscat flavours with apricot and floral notes on the nose. A well balanced wine with a delicate sweetness and a crisp acidity. Enjoyed as an aperitif; partner to spicy fusion foods – not hot; sweet Cape curries, or goose liver and baked fruits.

Cederberg Sauvignon Blanc

An aromatic Sauvignon Blanc with a combination of tropical, citrus and green aromas. Aromas of gooseberries, guava, lemon zest with hints of asparagus and green fig. A refreshing, crisp acidity finishes off the initial sensation of creaminess on the mid-palate. The ideal companion to traditional chicken pie, but also try it with shellfish or pork.

Cederberg Rose

The Cederberg Rosé, made of single vineyard shiraz, shows elegant aromas of strawberries, watermelon and cotton candy. It has a dry entry with a creamy palate yet it has a crisp finish. This shiraz-based Rosé has an exotic coral pink appearance, a real summer refresher.

Cederberg Shiraz Merlot

A fantastic blend of 60% Merlot and 40% Shiraz. The wine shows an abundance of red fruit on the nose. Sweet plums and blackcurrants from the Merlot and a slight hint of spice from the Shiraz.

Cederberg Cabernet Sauvignon

High altitude Cabernet sauvignon vineyards that have a longer ripening period give rise to this phenomenal wine. Ripe dark fruit with cassis and blackcurrants with cedar wood undertones. The elegant oaking expresses hints of smokiness and tobacco leaf creating a complex wine with a velvety finish on the palate.

Cederberg Shiraz

A multi-dimensional wine filled with intense red fruit, mulberry and cherries on the nose. Well-balanced with elegant oaking expressing hints of sweet vanilla. On the palate intense fruit flavours follows through leaving a silky smooth sensation.

Cederberg Five Generation Cabernet Sauvignon

The 18 months of maturation in new French oak has intensified the rich aromas of blackcurrant and cassis, layered with decadent dark chocolate and cherry tobacco. A velvety texture that lingers on the palate with a distinct blackcurrant aftertaste.

Ghost Corner wines

The extreme and mysterious landscape at the southernmost tip of Africa has been the inspiration for the Ghost Corner wines. More than 130 ships have found their last resting place in these treacherous waters where compass readings show no deviation between magnetic and true north and navigation was just about impossible on dark and stormy nights.

Inland from this dramatic coastline, in the Elim Ward, lie the vineyards where David is making the most of the excellent growing conditions, cooling southeasterly breezes and extreme climate. The deep lime-rich soil with plentiful slate and gravel deposits give rise to the exceptional Ghost Corner wines – Semillon, Sauvignon Blanc, Wild Ferment Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Noir and The Bowline. A range of wines that linger on the palate, evoking a sense of mysteries past.

Wines on offer:

  • Ghost Corner Sauvignon Blanc 2016
  • Ghost Corner the Bowline 2015
  • Ghost Corner Pinot Noir 2015

Ghost Corner Sauvignon Blanc

A unique Sauvignon blanc that cannot be compared to any other. Powerful concentrated layers of green figs and gooseberries, with a touch of grapefruit, fynbos and a steely minerality on the palate. A reflection of the cool climate terroir of Elim where the grapes are sourced. Lees contact during the winemaking process creates length and richness on the aftertaste, which will progress even more over the next 2 or 3 years.

Ghost Corner the Bowline

Sailors call the bowline the ‘king of knots’- a strong simple knot that symbolises union, completion and eternal devotion. This white blend ‘ties the knot’ between Sauvignon blanc and Semillon.

Ghost Corner Pinot Noir

A beautifully crafted Pinot noir with prominent red fruit of ripe cherries and sweet raspberries with an undertone of earthy, mushroom nuances. A silky palate with berries and delicate oak components following through.

Longavi

Longavi wines is a collaboration between two friends from different continents, Chilean producer Julio Bouchon and South African winemaker David Nieuwoudt who teamed up in 2012 to produce wines in Chile’s Leyda Valley. Longaví means ‘snakes head’ derived from a stratovolcano called Nevado de Longavi and the vine wreath on the label denotes the Ourobos, an ancient African symbol that represents nature’s eternal cycle of renewal.
