La Motte Sauvignon Blanc
Light straw in colour. Lots of gooseberry on the nose, together with lemon and tropical notes. Very polished and silky on the palate. Higher acidity than in other years, but well balanced by the almost medium bodied weight. The finish is juicy, light and lingering with a fresh finish.
La Motte Chardonnay
Grapes from one specific site in the Franschhoek area are combined with a secret French barrel selection, to produce the classic flavours that give this style its wide appeal. The wine is light in texture, but has all the charm of a world-class example of this variety, as it has proved to be.
La Motte Pierneef Sauvignon Blanc
This wine forms part of La Motte’s premium range, which is a tribute to South African artist Jacob Hendrik Pierneef (1886 – 1957), famous for his mastership in portraying the unadorned beauty of the South African landscape and its architecture. Inspiration for the unique linocuts on the label designs was gained from a limited edition of 128 Pierneef linocut prints displayed in the La Motte Museum on La Motte Wine Estate in the Franschhoek Valley.
La Motte Millenium
A Bordeaux-styled blend first created in the late 1990s to showcase the potential and vision for the quality of red blends from the Cape. La Motte Millennium has long since came of age and continues to impress in class and style with raspberry and mulberry fruit, cinnamon spice and a hint of mint as well as earthiness delivering a complex wine with a smooth entry and firm mid-palate finishing with lingering fruit and discreet minerality.
La Motte Cabernet Sauvignon
An elegant, typically South African style Cabernet Sauvignon made to reflect varietal character. The depth of dark red colour reveals a great vintage supported by an intense blackcurrants, violets, mint and fleshy plum finishing with seamless oak integration, texture and lingering fruit intensity.
La Motte Syrah
Syrah from Franschhoek contains a natural fruitiness that includes hard-pear and mulberry. The Durif provides colour, plum fruit and texture. One of the vineyard blocks well exposed to shade, yields black pepper spice, clearly noticeable on the palate. Wood flavours are well integrated and the palate has a creamy texture.
La Motte Pierneef Shiraz/Viognier
This wine is a tribute to South African artist Jacob Hendrik Pierneef (1886 – 1957), famous for his mastership in portraying the unadorned beauty of the South African landscape and its architecture. Inspiration for this label design was gained from a limited edition of 128 Pierneef linocut prints and the wine is made in great Côte Rôtie style in the northern Rhône area. It is a unique blend of white and red wine. The flamboyant flavour of the Viognier is a lively complement to the spiciness of the Syrah.
La Motte Brut
La Motte Méthode Cap Classique (MCC) originates from Franschhoek and the Chardonnay as well as Pinot Noir grapes from which the wine was made, were produced on La Motte. Vineyards grow against a southern slope 200 metres above sea level.
La Motte Vin de Joie Rose
The delicate complexity of La Motte Vin de Joie with its well-defined notes of nectarine, melon, rose petal and Turkish delight is perfectly paired with the simplicity of leafy salads, delicate salmon and trout or finely sliced charcuterie in summer and comforting fish soup or saffron-scented seafood paella in winter. Made to celebrate life’s everyday joys – whether they are social or simple.
