Rust en Vrede

Many accolades have been bestowed upon the estate and some of the more memorable were when Rust en Vrede was chosen by President Nelson Mandela to be served at the Nobel Peace Prize dinner and hosting the Queen of Denmark for a lunch with my family at the Manor House. Rust en Vrede was nominated as the first South African red wine in the Top 100 Wines of the World and repeated this achievement for four consecutive years.

Today, Rust en Vrede continues to be a fine example of what Stellenbosch is all about and we will strive to be a driving force in promoting our wines, our region and ultimately our country.

Wines on offer:

  • Rust en Vrede Syrah
  • Rust en Vrede Cabernet Sauvignon
  • Rust en Vrede Estate
  • Rust en Vrede Estate (1.5l Magnum)

Rust en Vrede Syrah

Fragrant blueberry, red cherry, and a hint of floral perfume open up to reveal fresh plum with layered sweet and savoury spices. The complex fruit flavours follow on the palate with fine but grippy tannins and a fresh fruity acidity. Typical spiciness is layered and complex – cardamom, fennel, black pepper, nutmeg and clove, with the delicate use of oak complimenting the spiciness. Refined yet powerful with a lingering fruity finish.

Rust en Vrede Cabernet Sauvignon

Established in 1694, Rust en Vrede is proud to be part of a remarkable three hundred year old wine tradition. Since 1977 the Engelbrecht family has specialized in the exclusive production of red wine, with the focus on Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah. Proprietor Jean Engelbrecht has worked to maintain Rust en Vrede as one of South Africa’s premium red wine estates, with full-bodied and complex wines that reflect the uniqueness of its Stellenbosch terroir.

Rust en Vrede Estate

A defining opulent blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah and Merlot with an alluring deep crimson colour enticing with sour cherry, black forest and violet aromas supported by concentrated dark fruit, winter spices and paprika through to a deftly integrated long, savoury finish.
