Stellenzicht

Since the early 1990s, Stellenzicht has been considered one of the top wine farms in the Cape Winelands. Over the years, winemaker Guy Webber has displayed a remarkable ability to coax the best results from his Shiraz and Pinotage grapes, two cultivars for which the winery has built up an enviable reputation. If any proof was needed: his 2008 Golden Triangle Shiraz came away from the 2012 Sélections Mondiales des Vins Canada with a gold medal, while the 2010 Golden Triangle Pinotage was awarded a gold medal at the 2012 Old Mutual Trophy Wine Show.

Considered one of South Africa’s Pinotage masters with a personal tally of five ABSA Top 10 scores, Guy is passionate about this varietal. This passion was rewarded once again with a gold medal at the 2011 Decanter World Wine Awards for the 2008 vintage of his Golden Triangle Pinotage.Stellenzicht has also been rated an icon winery by WINE magazine and is regarded as one of the pioneers of the Shiraz revolution in South Africa. The 2001 vintage of Stellenzicht Syrah won the trophy for the best SA Shiraz at the 2004 International Wine Challenge. The farm’s 2001 Golden Triangle Shiraz won one of only 13 Grand Gold medals, awarded internationally for wines achieving a minimum score of 95/100, at the 2004 MUNDUSvini International Wine Awards. Stellenzicht was named co-winner of SAA’s CEO Trophy for having the highest number of wines selected for the airline’s wine list for 2006, along with Cloof Wine Estate. The celebrated 2003 Stellenzicht Semillon Reserve, a four-and-a-half-star bearer in Platter’s South African Wine Guide, and also judged best in its class on the 2005 International Wine & Spirit Competition, was one of the wines selected to be served to first-class passengers onboard the national carrier in 2006.
